This year is the first year we are doing Thanksgiving solo, sans family, friends or missionary's. It's not necessarily my favorite holiday, but I enjoy making a big feast, and then eating cold turkey sandwiches for the next week, and of course turkey soup from the bones. Yummy!
Anyways, I'm rambling, and my point is, we did a couple Thanksgiving crafts with my girls and my Church class today, and I wanted to share.
First of all, if you don't know (and you won't cause I didn't tell you yet) I've been called back to Nursery, again, for the 6th time. But don't worry, you won't catch me crying. I LOVE Nursery! (I watch the 18 month to 3 years old at Church while their parents attend Sunday School etc.) And so I really wanted to do a cute craft with them today. And I did.
We made turkeys, with hand prints.
We started by painting their fingers and "hand stamping" construction paper with their hand print.
I didn't have a template for the gobbler thing or beak, but I used a rain drop punch and a kidney bean punch and a googly eye. I think they worked just fine.
And just assemble like so.
How cute is that!? Add a sentiment of thanks and you're done (my favorite one today from today was a little girl who said she was thankful for her crib) Awhh.
Quick and easy and oh, so cute.
Alright, so the other craft we did was make some more place settings for dinner tonight, at our friends house.
I'm sure you think I'm crazy for doing this, but I had this package of Thanksgiving Indian, fun foam people and I didn't have any other use for it. And the girls were screaming at each other, so I settled them down to assemble these guys and I thought they would make adorable place-cards for tonight.
All you do is peel and stick the various outfits, hair etc. They were kind of time consuming (which was good, my point was to entertain the girls) and they were very messy.
I just cut some white cardstock to mount them to and added the dinner guests names to their belts.
(Yes, if you can see that okay, it's says Elder. I guess we never quite get away from eating Thanksgiving dinner with the missionary's. haha)
Well we're off to our first Thanksgiving feast. Hope you have a great day remembering all that you have to be thankful for and enjoy time with your family.
What wonderful ideas! I love them all.
I hope you will link this post to my Thanksgiving Traditions link up!
